A directory buyers can actually trust.
American Companies exists for one reason: to make a company's American credentials something you can verify, not just something it claims. We independently review trust attributes — Made in USA, U.S. support, U.S. labor, warranty and more — and publish the result as gold, silver, and bronze credentials.
Why we exist
“Made in USA” shouldn't be an honor system
Most directories list whatever a company types about itself — origin, support, and labor claims, all unchecked. We built American Companies to replace that honor system with independent review: every credential here is earned against a documented rubric before it ever appears on a profile.
If we can't stand behind a number, we don't print it.
What we stand for
Three commitments that don't bend
Independent verification
Every badge is reviewed against a fixed rubric. Companies cannot pay to earn a credential — membership only controls how a profile looks and how visible it is.
Real data only
No invented review counts, no fake scarcity, no manufactured urgency. If we can't stand behind a number, we don't print it. Honest absence beats a flattering guess.
Editorial independence
The team that grades credentials is separate from the team that sells memberships. Paying for a richer profile never changes the rubric or the grade you receive.
The difference
Reviewed, not self-reported
A typical directory
- Anyone types in any claim
- Badges are bought, not earned
- No evidence behind the label
American Companies
- Claims checked against a rubric
- Badges earned by evidence, never sold
- Re-reviewed when facts change
What we check
The credentials behind every profile
Each attribute is graded on its own evidence — gold, silver, or bronze by how strong that evidence is.
American origin
Where products are actually made and assembled — from fully domestic to mixed sourcing.
U.S. support & labor
Whether support is U.S.-based and staffed by people, and whether work is done under U.S. labor standards.
Warranty & standing
The strength of the warranty offered, plus ownership facts and a company's standing on independent records.
A badge is a credential, never a purchase
This is the line we won't cross. A company can pay to claim its profile, add photos, and rank higher in the directory — but it can never pay for a trust badge or change the grade our review produced. That's what makes the badge worth trusting.
